Established in 2022 because of the split of General Electric Company, GE Aerospace continues the legacy of GE’s aviation business, dating back to 1917. GE Aerospace produces engines and components for military and civilian aircraft, with US Government contracts worth billions of dollars. The company has a significant global presence, with manufacturing facilities and service centres in multiple countries, and Europe, Asia, and MENA, all making a significant contribution to overall revenue.
GE Aerospace is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, trading under the ticker GE. It should be noted that this stock represents the new General Electric following the company’s split, with GE Aerospace as its core business. The other two spun-off segments are GE Healthcare and GE Vernova, an energy company. The company is a component of the S&P 500 index, having been dropped from the DJIA after a century of continuous membership in 2018. The largest shareholders are institutional investors including Vanguard and Fidelity.
