Nama Chemicals (2210) – Introduction and background

Nama Chemicals is a chemical manufacturing company based in Saudi Arabia, specialised in petrochemicals.

Founded in 1992, Nama Chemicals specialises in producing and marketing a wide range of chemical products used in many different industrial applications. Headquartered in Jubail, Nama Chemicals manufactures epoxy, epichlorohydrin, caustic soda, chlorine, hydrochloric acid, sodium hypochlorite and calcium chloride. The business has a significant share in the global production of many of these products. These petrochemicals have an extremely broad set of applications in manufacturing and other industries and are exported worldwide. A European subsidiary is based in Switzerland.

Nama Chemicals is publicly traded on Tadawul, trading under the ticker 2210. Since its heavily oversubscribed 2008 IPO, Nama has experienced considerable volatility, in part due to market concerns about the price trajectory of petrochemicals.

Investing in CFDs involves a high degree of risk that you will lose your money due to the use of leverage, particularly in fast moving markets, where a relatively small movement in the price can lead to a proportionately larger movement in the value of your investment. This can result in loses that exceed the funds in your account. You should consider whether you understand how CFDs work and you should seek independent advice if necessary.
