Founded in 1849, Pfizer offers vaccines, biosimilars, and anti-infective medicines under various brands, including but not limited to Eliquis, Nimenrix, Comirnaty, Vyndaqel, Genotropin, and Sulperazon. The corporation is also involved in the contract manufacturing business, serving wholesalers, retailers, hospitals, government agencies, and more.
Pfizer became a publicly traded company in June 1942, with its 5.9 million USD IPO becoming one of the largest of that year. In 1998, the company’s market capitalisation had grown by more than a million percent from its IPO valuation, and by 2004, it was indisputably the largest company among its peers worldwide. In 2020, Pfizer’s share price saw astronomical growth with the company’s involvement in the development of the COVID-19 vaccine. However, it has since tailed off as demand drops off for COVID treatments.
