Nike (NIKE) is the world’s largest supplier of athletic shoes and apparel. The company was founded under the name Blue Ribbon Sports in January 1964 in Eugene, Oregon. In 1971, it changed its name to Nike. Today, Nike is headquartered in Beaverton, Oregon, and has over 79,000 employees worldwide. The corporation oversees the design, development, marketing, and selling of its product lines, outsourcing its production to more than 300 factories in more than 30 countries. Nike is one of the biggest household names, and their sales of athletic footwear make up two-thirds of its overall revenue.

Nike is listed on the NYSE under the ticker ‘NKE’ and has been a publicly traded company since December 1980. With an initial offering price of $22 per share, its market price has enjoyed substantial growth over the past decades as the brand expanded. Currently, Nike has a market capitalisation of $165.27 billion, and its shareholders receive quarterly payouts.
